Blatchford Dog Park

Blatchford Dog Park is the fenced off-leash exercise area inside Blatchford Sporting and Recreation Reserve on Blatchford Dr, Murrumba Downs. It has a friendly, regular-visitor community feel, shade trees over part of the run, and a tidy, well-kept setup rather than a bare paddock.

The rules. Off-leash only applies inside the fenced section, and the double-gated entrance is there to stop dogs slipping out while leads come off. Owners need voice control over their dogs at all times, and waste bags are generally available across the wider reserve, though it pays to carry your own as backup.

What's there. Free, ample parking near the main access point and more near the sporting fields, toilets, covered picnic tables, and shade trees inside the dog area. Next door there's a playground, basketball court, exercise equipment, and a pump track. The dog park itself is best treated as a daylight-hours spot; only parts of the broader reserve are lit at night.

Getting there. Reached via Blatchford Drive or the main car park off Goodfellows Road. It's within reasonable distance of Murrumba Downs train station, and easy to get to from Dohles Rocks Road or the M1.

Nearby with the dogs. Cafes with outdoor seating in Kallangur and North Lakes are a short drive away, and Murrumba Downs Tavern nearby sometimes allows dogs in outdoor dining, so call ahead. Pet-friendly accommodation is easiest to find in Kallangur or North Lakes.

When to go. Sunday mornings, Saturday afternoons, and late afternoons on weekends are busiest, with the main entrance getting hectic at peak times. Weekdays are quieter and better suited to reactive dogs. The reserve is large enough that you can usually find space even when it's busy.
