Mawson Lakes Small Dog Park

The pitch. A fenced, off-leash park inside the Dry Creek Linear Park reserve on Park Way, Mawson Lakes, set aside specifically for small breeds, with agility gear like tunnels and a slide to keep things interesting.

The rules. This yard is for dogs around 35cm or under at the shoulder, so it is not the spot for larger breeds even if they are friendly. Supervise your dog at all times, close the gate properly on the way in and out, clean up after your dog using the bins provided, and leave toys and balls at home as they are not permitted inside the fence.

What's there. Tunnels, a slide and other agility equipment sized for small dogs, a mix of grass and maintained surface, shaded areas, benches for owners and a water station. It gets muddy through winter, so factor that in if it has been raining.

Getting there. On Park Way, Mawson Lakes SA 5095, with a car park directly across the road. It connects to the Dry Creek Linear Park walking paths and is within walking distance of buses around the Mawson Lakes town centre.

Nearby with the dogs. The general Mawson Lakes Fenced Dog Park is a short walk away for owners with a mixed-size household. Main Street's cafes and the lake precinct, including Relish on Main and Morning Light Cafe, are an easy stroll from here for a coffee afterwards.

When to go. Weekday mornings and midday are quietest; Saturday and Sunday afternoons are the busiest and most social. Good for small dogs that prefer playing with others their own size rather than being crowded by bigger dogs.
