What visitors mention
Marcoola Fenced Dog Park sits on the corner of David Low Way and Marcoola Esplanade, a fully fenced off-leash area with a genuine drawcard: it backs onto the Sunshine Coast Airport flight path, so plane-watching comes free with the run. It is open around the clock and rarely crowded.
The rules. Once inside the fence, dogs are off-leash under effective voice control. Keep leads on through the entry and exit gates, and stay off the neighbouring sports fields and any children's playground, where off-leash is not permitted. Regulated (dangerous or menacing) dogs are barred from off-leash areas. Council registration tags must be worn, and you pick up after your dog every time.
What's there. The park is fully fenced with open grass to run and some agility equipment. Shaded seating and tables give owners a spot to sit, there are water stations and a tap for rinsing sandy or muddy paws, bins on site, and public toilets nearby. Shade across the run itself is limited, so it warms up through the day.
Getting there. It is straight off David Low Way at the Marcoola Esplanade corner. Free street parking runs along the Esplanade and surrounding streets, with an accessible bay available. TransLink buses run along David Low Way with stops close to the entrance.
Watch-outs. With little shade over the main run, avoid the middle of hot days and bring water even though taps are provided. Check paws for grass seeds after a good session.
When to go. Early mornings and late afternoons around 4 to 5pm are the social peak, and Sunday mornings get busy. For a quieter run with more room, aim for weekday mid-morning between 10am and 2pm. Good for dogs who like company and a bit of a spectacle overhead.
