Cuba St Coffee Roasters is a busy local cafe and in-house roastery at 968 David Low Way, Marcoola, a short stroll from the beach and an easy coffee stop when you have the dog along. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating straight off the street, and this is one Sunshine Coast cafe where the welcome is not an afterthought.

The dog setup

Dogs sit with you in the outdoor seating area, with flat, level access from the footpath so you never need to lead them through the cafe. Staff are known for being good with dogs, water bowls are usually available, and puppuccinos get a mention from regulars. Bring your own bowl if your dog is fussy about shared ones.

The coffee and the kitchen

They roast their own beans on site and date them on the bag, so the coffee is the reason to come. The kitchen turns out breakfast and lunch, with date and orange scones, muffins and sausage rolls popular. It opens daily from about 6am to 2pm, which makes it an early-morning or lunch stop rather than an afternoon one.

The cafe sits on David Low Way between Mudjimba and Coolum Beach, with free street parking out front and along nearby streets. Even on busy mornings you can usually find a spot within a short walk of the door.
