Vanilla Ave Dog Park

A small, fully fenced off-leash area in Griffin (part of the wider Ultramarine Parade Park, off Evergreen Parade), popular with locals for a quick fenced run rather than a destination trip.

The rules. Dogs must be under effective control at all times, even inside the fenced area. Owners must pick up after their dogs, waste bags and bins are generally provided. Female dogs in season and declared dangerous dogs are not permitted, and dogs must be leashed anywhere outside the fenced zone. Check the double gates close properly before letting your dog off lead, they are there to stop accidental escapes.

What's there. Double-gate entry for safety, a water point for dogs, limited seating, and patchy shade, so some of the park sits in full sun. There are no public toilets on site. The surrounding park has a playground, fitness equipment and walking paths if you want to extend the visit.

Getting there. Access is via Evergreen Parade or Ultramarine Parade in Griffin. Wheelchair-accessible parking is available nearby. It is best reached by car or on foot from the surrounding streets, bus coverage in the area is limited.

Nearby with the dogs. Dog-friendly cafes are a short drive away in Kallangur or Petrie, with options such as The Coffee Club at Murrumba Downs. Pet-friendly accommodation is easier to find in the nearby Murrumba Downs, Brendale and Kallangur areas.

When to go. Weekday mid-mornings or early afternoons are quietest. Weekends and weekend evenings draw the biggest crowds, so if your dog is small or easily overwhelmed, avoid those windows or watch closely once other dogs arrive.
