Big Paws Dog Park is a small, fully fenced off-leash park inside the Covella estate on Coringley Road, Greenbank. It is a local run-around rather than a destination park, and that is fine: a quiet, secure paddock for a quick off-leash break close to home.

The rules. Dogs must be leashed on the way in and out through the double-gate entry system, then can run free once inside the fence. Owners need to stay with their dogs and step in fast if another dog shows aggression. Pick up after your dog; bins are provided.

What's there. The park is open grass with some trees for shade, a handful of benches, on-site parking right at the gate, and water stations for dogs on hot days. It is a low-key setup built for a fenced-community park rather than a big regional facility, so do not expect agility gear or a wash station.

Getting there. It sits inside the Covella estate off Pub Lane, with easy free parking at the gate. Public transport does not really reach Coringley Road, so driving is the only practical way in.

Check the double gate is fully latched behind you before letting your dog off lead. It is a small yard and a bolt for the exit is the main risk here.

When to go. Weekend mornings from 9 to 11 and weekday afternoons from 4:30 get busiest with the local estate crowd. Weekday mid-morning, roughly 10 to 2, is the quiet window. Shade is limited, so warmer months are better tackled early or late in the day.
