Big Paws Dog Park

Big Paws Dog Park is a small, fully fenced off-leash enclosure inside the Covella estate in Greenbank, south of Logan. It is a local run-around rather than a destination park, and that is the point: a quiet, secure grassed paddock where a quick off-leash break takes no more effort than walking to the end of the street.

The dog setup

The park is fully fenced with a double-gate entry, so dogs go on lead through the gates and run free once inside. Owners are expected to stay within sight, recall their dogs reliably, and step in quickly if play turns rough or another dog shows aggression. Bins are provided for waste. The surface is open grass with a few trees for shade and a handful of benches around the edge, and water stations keep dogs topped up on hot days. This is a community-scale facility, so there is no agility gear or wash station; just grass, fence and shade.

Max: check the double gate is fully latched behind you before unclipping. In a yard this small, a gate left ajar on the exit side is the main risk, not the fence.

The vibe

Expect the local estate crowd rather than visitors from further afield. Weekend mornings from about nine to eleven and weekday afternoons from four thirty get busiest, while mid-morning on weekdays between ten and two is the quiet window. Shade is limited to a few trees, so in the warmer months it pays to come early or later in the day rather than at lunchtime.

Getting there and parking

The park sits inside the Covella estate off Pub Lane, Greenbank, with parking right at the gate and no cost to park. Public transport does not usefully reach this part of Greenbank, so driving is the practical way in.

Close by with the dogs

The Little Paws Dog Park is the other Greenbank option close by, and the Everleigh Dog Park is the larger fenced facility with separate small and large dog areas about ten minutes away. For an on-lead walk afterwards, the Spring Mountain Recreational Trail runs through the area.
