Ferny Grove Dog Park, set inside Arbor Street Park on Samford Road, is a fully fenced 24-hour off-leash park on Brisbane's northwest edge with the practical details sorted: separate big-dog and small-dog zones, an agility course and free parking at the gate.

The dog setup

Inside the fence, dogs run off-lead under effective control, and the double-gate entry keeps escapes off the agenda. Use the section that matches your dog's size as signposted, keep dogs leashed in the car park and on the walk in, and remove any dog showing aggression straight away, per Brisbane City Council's standard off-leash rules.

The fit-out covers the dog side and the owner side: agility obstacles for structured play, established shade trees, undercover seating and water stations inside the enclosure.

Max: the ground inside the fence gets uneven in patches after rain, so watch your footing if you are jogging the agility line with your dog rather than standing still.

Worth knowing

It is a genuinely local-feeling park rather than a destination circus, and the community skews towards regulars doing training and socialisation. The separate zones make it a sensible pick for a new rescue or a small dog that finds big-dog chaos overwhelming, and the agility gear gives young dogs a job while they learn recall.

Saturday afternoons and weekday evenings draw the biggest crowds; weekday mornings stay quiet. Being open around the clock also makes a late, cooler summer visit workable when the middle of the day is too hot.

Entry is via Arbor Street off Samford Road, Ferny Grove, with a free car park right at the entrance and wheelchair-accessible access. Ferny Grove train station is a moderate walk away, so it is doable without a car if you do not mind the stroll.
