Keperra Dog Park on Duggan Street gives Brisbane's north-west two separate fenced yards, one for big dogs and one for small, right next to the Keperra Picnic Ground and a short walk from Keperra train station.

The rules. Dogs run off-leash inside the fenced yards but go back on-leash the moment you're in the car park or surrounding grounds. Owners stay with their dogs and keep them under control, and clean-up bins are provided so there's no excuse to leave anything behind.

What's there. Both yards are double-gated for safety, with water fountains and bowls, covered tables and chairs for keeping an eye on the action, and free barbecue facilities if you want to turn the visit into lunch. The car park is free and wheelchair accessible.

Getting there. It's just off Samford Road via Duggan Street, and close enough to Keperra Railway Station to make it a genuine option without a car.

Max's takegerman shepherd
the grass holds up better than most local parks, but the ground near the water bowls turns to mud after solid rain, so check your dog's paws before you get back in the car.

Nearby with the dogs. Samford Road in neighbouring Arana Hills and Ferny Grove has a run of cafes with outdoor seating if you want a coffee after the park.

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quiet window here; weekday evenings and early weekend mornings draw the bigger crowds. Bring a towel if it's been raining.
