Exeter Fenced Dog Park

Exeter Fenced Dog Park on Murray Street is a fully enclosed off-leash space run by West Tamar Council, giving local dogs a secure spot to run without a lead in the middle of town.

The rules. Use the double-gated entry to get in and out safely before unclipping the leash, and keep dogs under supervision the whole time. Scoop and bin waste, bags are often available on-site but it's worth carrying your own as backup. The double gate is there specifically to stop dogs slipping out while another owner is arriving.

What's there. The park is fully fenced with a grassy run, shaded areas for warmer days, a water station for dogs, and seating for owners. A community toy basket sometimes turns up too, though don't rely on it being stocked.

Getting there. It's at 11 Murray St, Exeter, just off the West Tamar Highway, with free street parking nearby.

Nearby with the dogs. Exeter's cafes along Main Road are an easy walk or short drive from the park for a coffee afterwards, and there's pet-friendly accommodation scattered through the wider West Tamar area.

Early mornings and late afternoons are the busiest times, with a quieter stretch through the middle of the day if your dog prefers less company. Being inland, it isn't tide-affected, but it can turn muddy after heavy West Tamar rain.
