Exeter Fenced Dog Park

Exeter Fenced Dog Park on Murray Street is a fully enclosed off-leash space run by West Tamar Council, giving dogs a secure run in the middle of town. Open around the clock, it is the kind of small, well-kept community park that locals use daily and travellers on the West Tamar Highway can drop into for a leg-stretch.

Inside the fence

Use the double-gated entry to get in and out safely, and only unclip the leash once both gates have closed behind you. Dogs stay under supervision and voice control the whole time. Scoop and bin waste; bags are often available on site but carry your own as backup. The double gate exists specifically to stop dogs slipping out while another owner arrives, so the latch check at every pass is part of the deal in a community-run park.

The vibe

The park is fully fenced with a grassy run, shaded areas for warmer days, a water station for dogs and seating for owners. A community toy basket sometimes turns up, though do not count on it being stocked. Early mornings and late afternoons draw the regular crowd, with a quieter stretch through the middle of the day. Being inland it is never tide-affected, but it can turn muddy after heavy West Tamar rain, so pick your patch accordingly.

The park sits at 11 Murray Street, just off the West Tamar Highway, with free street parking nearby. Exeter's cafes along Main Road are an easy walk or short drive afterwards.

The West Tamar corridor has a few secure options. The Beaconsfield Fenced Dog Park sits a few minutes north, and the Legana Off-Lead Dog Park on Tanner Drive covers the southern end towards Launceston. In town, The Cabin is the local coffee stop to finish the loop.
