Singapore Baker’s Cafe

Singapore Baker's Cafe sits at 291a Gravelly Beach Road on the Tamar River's western shore, about five minutes' drive from Exeter. It is a husband-and-wife-run cafe with a view over the water, and the part that matters for dog owners is straightforward: the outdoor seating area takes dogs, and those tables are the ones looking at the river.

Dogs are welcome outdoors only and must stay on leash. The cafe asks owners to be considerate of other customers and of pedestrians passing through, and water bowls are not a given, so carry your own. The outdoor area sits close to a public road, which makes a short leash a better call than a long line here.

The vibe

The food is the reason people make the trip: proper Singaporean curries with real heat, which is a rare find this far out of Launceston. Alongside them are freshly brewed coffee and a cabinet of homemade cakes and pastries. It is a small, casual room rather than a destination diner, so at busy times you may be waiting on a riverside table with the dog.

Follow Gravelly Beach Road out of Exeter; the cafe is on the river side roughly five minutes along. Parking is free, with both off-street and on-street options nearby, so there is no need to factor in a walk from a car park. Hours have historically run Thursday to Sunday from around 9am to 3pm, but they have shifted before, so check the current opening days before you head out.

Close by with the dogs
