Victory Terrace Fenced Dog Park

Victory Terrace Fenced Dog Park is a small, fully enclosed off-leash park on Jewell Lane in East Perth's Riverside precinct, about 1,100 square metres of grassed ground shaded by established trees. It is open around the clock, which makes it one of the few places near the CBD where a dog can run off-lead at any hour without straying toward the surrounding roads.

The dog setup

The whole park sits inside a fence with a double-gated entry, so there is a safety buffer at the gate before a dog reaches the street. It is a single shared space with no separate section for small dogs, and off-leash time is only permitted inside the perimeter; on the surrounding paths and reserves the leash goes back on. Waste bags and bins are provided at the park, and there are a few benches for owners. There is no water tap, so bring your own bowl and water, particularly through summer when the shade is doing all the work.

The vibe

It reads as a neighbourhood pocket park rather than a destination: local dogs on a morning lap, a quiet midday slot, room for a fetch session but not a cross-country run. Mosquitos get a mention around the warmer months, so an evening visit in summer can test patience.

Getting there and parking

Access is from Victory Terrace or Moore Street. Parking is mostly paid street parking and can be tight at peak times, so many people arrive on foot. The park is a short walk from Claisebrook train station and from bus stops along Lord Street, and the riverside paths of the Swan River foreshore are close enough to combine into a longer outing.

Close by with the dogs

For a change of scenery, the Ozone Reserve Fenced Dog Park on Plain Street is a short walk away and has drinking fountains and agility equipment. If you want to stretch the day out, the Elizabeth Quay via Point Fraser trail starts nearby and follows the river. Cafes around Claisebrook Cove and along Royal Street generally offer outdoor seating that takes dogs, though it is worth checking ahead on any given day.
