Panda & Co

Panda & Co runs an Asian-fusion brunch menu out of a small shopfront at 1/365 Newcastle Street, on the corner of Fitzgerald Street in Perth. It sits a short walk from Hyde Park, which makes it a natural first or last stop around a walk with your dog. The room is small and the breakfast rush is real, so canine company is an outdoor arrangement here: dogs are welcome at the streetfront footpath tables, not inside.

The dog setup

Dining with your dog happens on the footpath terrace out the front. This is street seating rather than a deep courtyard: a handful of tables along the Newcastle Street edge, close enough to passing foot traffic that a settled dog works best. Staff are easygoing about dogs at the tables, but come prepared with your own water bowl rather than counting on one being provided. Because the indoor room is off limits, it suits one dog per table rather than a large group arrival.

The vibe

The kitchen plays with Cantonese and Malaysian flavours across a brunch and lunch menu: bao, congee, fusion plates and a breakfast bao with the works. The coffee gets plenty of praise, and the decor carries a playful panda theme through a casual, high-energy room. Weekend mornings fill quickly and the footpath tables go with them, so arriving early is the difference between a street seat and a wait. Weekday service is the calmer option if you have a dog who prefers quieter surroundings.

Getting there and parking

Limited free street parking sits along Newcastle and Fitzgerald Streets, so read the signs before leaving the car. If you would rather skip the hunt altogether, the cafe is an easy walk from the CBD and Northbridge, and buses run along Newcastle Street for anyone arriving with the dog from further out.

While you're out there

Hyde Park is the obvious pairing: big lawns, shaded paths and an easy loop on the lead a few minutes from the tables. If you would rather give your dog a proper run, the city's dog exercise area covers off-lead options and there is a fenced dog park at Ozone Reserve in East Perth for a fully enclosed play. For a longer outing, the Flat Rock Gully walking track starts on the Northbridge side and earns the brunch that follows.
