Wilsons Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Wilsons Reserve on Wilsons Road is a roughly 2.9-hectare Doncaster community reserve with a sportsground and open space, sitting next to the Koonung Creek Linear Park. The sportsground is where the off-leash run happens, with the linear park alongside for on-lead walking.

The rules. Dogs are off-lead on the sportsground under effective control, but only when no organised sport or event is on; during cricket or soccer, dogs must be on-lead or off the field. Keep dogs on-lead within 15 metres of play equipment and permanent BBQs. The reserve is not fully enclosed, so recall matters near the roads and creek. Clean up and use the bins; confirm current lead zones against Manningham Council signage.

What is there. A pavilion, public toilets, sheltered areas, a children's playground, walking trails and a BBQ with unshaded seating. On-site parking is available. There is no reported dog water tap, so bring your own water.

Getting there. Access via Wilsons Road or Harcourt Street, with an on-site car park, plus pedestrian links from McLeod Street and Gray Street. The reserve connects to the Koonung Creek Linear Park.

When to go. Weekdays, mid-morning and mid-afternoon, are quietest; weekend afternoons (Sunday in particular) and early mornings are busiest. If the oval is in use for sport, walk the tree-lined edges on-lead or head onto the Koonung Creek trail. Good for active dogs with reliable recall.
