The basics. Landscape Drive Reserve in Doncaster East pairs a fenced sports oval with open off-leash grassland, a popular neighbourhood spot for local dog walkers wanting space and a bit of community buzz.

The rules. Dogs run off-lead in the open designated areas under effective control, returning on command. The sporting oval is fenced but the surrounding open space is largely unfenced and gives onto residential streets, so recall counts. On-lead within 15 metres of play equipment, permanent BBQs and active sporting events, and off the oval when matches or training are on. Pick up after your dog.

What's there. A pavilion, shelter and permanent BBQ, playground, public toilets, seating and waste bins. There is no guaranteed dog water point, so bring your own. Limited off-street parking sits on Landscape Drive near the playground.

Getting there. Access from Landscape Drive. Buses 282, 305 and 318 stop on Andersons Creek Road near Serpells Road, about a 500-metre walk down Serpells Road.

When to go. Popular on weekends and weekday evenings. Check the Manningham sportsground schedule before a weekend visit, as the fenced oval can be heavily booked. The open area is largely unshaded, so it gets hot on summer afternoons; carry water. Good for an everyday off-leash run when sport is not on.
