Craigieburn Fenced Dog Park

Craigieburn Fenced Dog Park sits behind the Craigieburn Sports Stadium on Craigieburn Road, a fully fenced off-leash space with separate zones for big and small dogs plus a rock-scramble sensory area for dogs that like exploring with their feet as much as running with them.

The dog setup

Hume City Council runs the park with a clear code of conduct: two dogs per person maximum, every dog at least six months old and fully vaccinated, no aggressive dogs, and reliable obedience off-leash even inside the fence. Children under five are not permitted and kids under 14 cannot be the ones supervising a dog. Leave choker and spiked collars at home, and keep human food out. The surface is mostly gravel and woodchip rather than grass, and the layout splits into a general runabout zone, an education and training zone with agility equipment, the rock scramble sensory zone, and a separate little-dog area. Sheltered seating, drinking fountains with dog bowls and bag-and-bin stations are all on site.

Max: the rock-scramble zone sits close to the general run in parts, so keep an eye on smaller dogs near bigger ones working the same feature.

The vibe

This is one of the busier dog parks in Melbourne's north, popular for socialisation. Sunday mornings and evenings plus weekday evenings from Tuesday to Saturday draw the biggest crowds; Wednesday evenings and Friday mornings are quieter. There have been occasional reports of tension between dogs during crowded periods, so if yours is reactive, pick a calm slot.

Getting there and parking

Access is off Craigieburn Road with a dedicated car park on the north side, though on-site parking is limited at peak times and the entrance can turn muddy after rain. Bus routes serving Craigieburn Central put the park within walking distance of public transport.

Close by with the dogs

For an unfenced option with more room, the D.S. Aitken Reserve off-leash area is in the same suburb, and the Greenvale Recreation Reserve off-leash area is further south. The Forget Me Not Eatery at Greenvale is a coffee stop for the drive home.
