Deerubbin Park Fenced Dog Park occupies a flat riverfront corner of Cornwallis, a short drive across the water from Windsor. The wider reserve runs to 8.6 hectares of sports fields and walking paths with the Hawkesbury River as the backdrop, and the fully fenced off-leash zone sits inside it. If you want a contained run where your dog can go wild without a leash, this is one of the more pleasant settings in the Hawkesbury.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced with double-gated entries, so there is no squeezing through a single gate with a lead in one hand. Two separate sections split small dogs from larger dogs, which keeps play groups sensible. Inside there is agility equipment to work through, a water tap for refills, and waste bag dispensers with bins so nobody has an excuse. Shade and seating sit alongside the runs for handlers.

Council rules apply as they do across Hawkesbury off-leash areas: dogs must stay under effective control and in sight, waste gets picked up immediately, and dogs are leashed again the moment they step outside the fence. Daytime use only, as the reserve carries no lighting.

The vibe

This is a local community park rather than a destination, and most of the regulars arrive on weekday mornings or early afternoons. Saturday mornings get busy, and rugby days on the adjoining fields bring extra cars and noise, which some dogs love and others find a bit much. The river outlook and the open paddock feel are the draw: it is a quiet stretch of Cornwallis with Windsor visible across the water.

Getting there and parking

Set your GPS to Cornwallis Road, Cornwallis. Formalised parking sits beside the park grounds, with bollards and walking paths added in recent council upgrades. If you are coming from the Windsor side, you can walk it: the reserve is reachable from the Windsor town centre across the bridge over Rickabys Creek, and the riverside path along the way makes a good warm-up.

Close by with the dogs

After a run in the enclosure, grab coffee at The Second Home Cafe in Windsor, which welcomes dogs outdoors. Another fenced option worth knowing is Pool Park Fenced Dog Park over in South Windsor, useful when the size-segregated sections here are crowded. If you are making a day of it, the National Hotel in Richmond pours drinks in a dog-friendly beer garden, and Northey Street Park adds one more fenced run to the western Sydney circuit.
