Reserve 1118 Fenced Dog Park

Reserve 1118, known locally as Elara Dog Park, is Blacktown City Council's fenced off-leash park at 15 Watkin Crescent in the Elara estate at Marsden Park, in Sydney's north-west growth corridor. It is a simple, single-enclosure neighbourhood dog park that does the basics well.

Off-leash rules and fencing

The reserve is fully fenced with a double-gated entry, and dogs run off lead inside the boundary under the same rules Blacktown applies across its off-leash areas: dogs stay under effective control, droppings are binned immediately, and declared dangerous or restricted breed dogs are prohibited. Signs at the gate carry the current conditions, so read them as you come in.

The vibe

The enclosure is one large open field rather than split small-dog and big-dog zones, which suits confident, sociable dogs and means owners of smaller dogs should judge the crowd before unclipping. A dog water fountain and bench seating sit inside, but there are no bag dispensers, no public toilets and no lighting, so bring your own bags and keep visits to daylight hours in winter.

Pepsi: single-field parks live or die on the regulars. Come at the same time each day and the playgroup mostly assembles itself.

Getting there and parking

The park sits on Watkin Crescent inside the Elara estate, reached via Richmond Road or the M7 and Sunnyholt Road run from the east. Street parking is free along the entrance, and the estate is realistically drive-only, with no train or frequent bus service to the door.

For a change of enclosure, Ridgeview Park and Riverbrae cover Riverstone, and Connie Lowe Reserve in Rouse Hill adds dual gates and agility gear. Refuel at The Baristas' Shed or the Marsden Brewhouse, both local.
