Pat Rafter Park Fenced Dog Park

Pat Rafter Park Fenced Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash area on Accolade Place in Carseldine, next to the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club and open 24 hours for early or late visits. It is a compact, well-kept neighbourhood facility with lighting that makes it a genuine after-work option in the cooler months.

The dog setup

Dogs must be on-leash entering and leaving the fenced area, then under effective control once off-leash inside under Brisbane City Council rules. Waste needs picking up immediately, and dogs are not permitted in the adjoining playground or sports fields.

The dog area is grassed with shade trees, a water point, seating and bins. The wider park adds gazebos, electric barbecues and a children's playground, which makes the trip an easy family outing rather than just a dog walk.

Pepsi: with the gates shut and the lighting on, this is one of the few dog parks where a winter evening run feels safe rather than like a gamble.

The vibe

Weekend mornings between 8am and 10am and weekday early evenings around 4:30pm to 6pm are the busiest windows. Weekday middays are the quiet time if your dog prefers fewer playmates. The crowd skews local and regular, and the fenced boundary makes it workable for dogs that are still building recall.

Getting there and parking

Reach it via Lacey Road onto Accolade Place, with free street parking that is generally easy to find even on weekends. Carseldine train station is about a five-minute drive away, with local buses servicing the wider Aspley and Carseldine area.

Close by with the dogs

The Lacey Road Park Fenced Dog Park is the suburb's other enclosed option, and the big Marchant Park Fenced Dog Park in Aspley is worth the short drive for a bigger run. For coffee afterwards, Beyond The Brew in Fitzgibbon is a local favourite with the dog-walking crowd.
