The Albany Creek Dog Park is the fenced, off-leash area on Leitchs Road South, the same council reserve locals also know as Bleakley Park. It gives you a secure, double-gated space to let dogs run near the South Pine River.
The rules. Off-leash is fine inside the fenced area, with dogs kept under effective voice control. Leash up until both gates close behind you, pick up after your dog with the bins provided, and remove any dog that turns aggressive.
What's there. Fenced run with double-gated entry, shaded bench seating, bins and off-street parking at the site. A children's playground sits adjacent, and the river gives the surrounds some greenery and shade. Bring a portable water bowl to be safe.
Getting there. Access is off Leitchs Road, reached via Albany Creek Road, with free parking on site. One thing to know: the reserve sits near a wastewater treatment plant, so scents can carry on the wrong wind.
When to go. Weekday mornings and early afternoons are quietest; weekends and late weekday afternoons are the busy stretches when small and large dogs share the space.
