Albany Creek Dog Park

The Albany Creek Dog Park is the fenced off-leash area on Leitchs Road South, within the John Leitch Memorial Park reserve in Albany Creek, in the City of Moreton Bay. It is a secure, double-gated setup backed by tree-lined suburb and a playground precinct next door, and it has one feature many dog parks lack: separate enclosures for small and large dogs, so a cavalier does not have to share the yard with a mastiff.

The dog setup

The fenced runs have double-gated entries, water bubblers, waste bins and bench seating, with accessible parking at the site. City of Moreton Bay rules apply: stay inside the enclosure, keep your dog within sight and responding to voice control, close the gates behind you, and leash up and leave immediately if your dog shows aggression. Dogs should be fully vaccinated before joining a shared off-leash space.

The vibe

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quiet windows; weekends and late weekday afternoons are when the crowd builds and both yards fill with regulars. Because there are separate small and large dog areas, it works for timid dogs that bigger shared-park runs overwhelm. One honest caveat: the reserve sits near a wastewater treatment plant, and on the wrong wind the scent carries, something long-time locals shrug at and first-timers notice.

Getting there and parking

Access is off Leitchs Road South, reached via Albany Creek Road, with free off-street and accessible parking on site. The adjacent playground and BBQ precinct make it workable for families mixing kid time with dog time.
