What visitors mention
Iluka Reserve is a fully fenced off-leash dog park on Iluka Avenue in Aspendale, a short walk from the train station and backing onto a football oval and playground. The draw is the security: three double-gated entrances mean you can let a bolter off the lead without watching the exits.
The rules. Inside the fenced enclosure dogs are off-leash but must stay under effective voice control. The enclosure is separate from the neighbouring sports oval, which is on-leash, so keep dogs off the field when matches or training are on. Pick up after your dog; bins sit near the pavilion.
What's there. Secure double-gate entries, a shared human and dog drinking station, good shade trees and seating for owners, and a mostly grassed surface. The park is wheelchair accessible. The catch is drainage: the grass turns muddy after rain, so give it a few dry days if you would rather not hose the dog down afterwards.
Getting there. Off Nepean Highway or Station Street, turn onto Iluka Avenue. Parking is limited to surrounding streets, so allow extra time on weekend mornings. Aspendale Railway Station on the Frankston line is within walking distance.

When to go. Weekend mornings and weekday afternoons after 4pm are the social peak. Mid-morning on a dry weekday is quietest and driest. Two Farm Girls and Skinny Boy Jim are both close for a coffee afterwards, and Aspendale Beach is minutes away if you want to combine the trip, tides permitting.
