Nurten Parade Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Nurten Parade Reserve is a quiet suburban off-leash park in Aspendale Gardens: a grassy, tree-shaded strip with a concrete path running its length and none of the crowds of the bigger Bayside dog parks. It is not a marquee destination, but for locals who want space and calm it does the job well.

The rules

The reserve runs a split schedule: off-leash from 5pm through to 10am, and on-leash from 10am to 5pm. Off-leash use is off the table whenever sporting activities are underway on site, regardless of the hour, and a lead should stay on hand either way. Rangers do patrol City of Kingston reserves, so treat the timetable as enforced rather than advisory.

What's there

Facilities are minimal by design: two bench seats, rubbish bins at each end, and solid natural shade from established trees. There is no water station, so bring your own bowl and supply, and the reserve is not fenced, which is the biggest factor in whether it suits your dog. The path along the reserve gives older dogs and slower walkers a firm surface.

The vibe

Early morning before 10am and the evening stretch after 5pm are both the legal off-leash windows and the quietest times, so the two line up nicely. Expect locals with well-known dogs rather than a rotating destination crowd, and a no-fuss run rather than a big social session.

The reserve sits directly on Nurten Parade, off Wells Road, with ample street parking nearby. Local buses run along Wells Road if you are arriving without a car, and the walk from the stop is flat.
