Algester Off Leash Dog Park

Algester Off Leash Dog Park sits inside Ridgewood Park, accessed off Ridgewood Road or Yorrell Street. It is a large, mostly open grass area with a fully fenced, double-gated off-leash section, popular enough with locals that it doubles as a bit of a social hub.

The rules. Off-leash is permitted only inside the fenced, double-gated area. Everywhere else in the wider Ridgewood Park, and on the walk to and from the park, dogs need to be on a leash. Owners are expected to keep control of their dogs at all times, and aggressive dogs should be removed immediately.

What's there. The fenced area has water stations, a double-gated entry for safe arrivals and departures, some limited shaded seating for owners, and rubbish bins for waste. The grass area itself is largely unshaded, so plan for sun exposure in the middle of the day.

Getting there. Drive in via Beenleigh Road to Ridgewood Road, where free, unregulated street parking is plentiful. Bus routes 114, 115 and 117 stop within a short walk on Algester Road or Ridgewood Road.

Nearby. Milli & Mol's Espresso on Ridgewood Road has outdoor tables for a coffee afterwards, and Col Bennett Park is close by for a change of scenery.

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are quietest. Saturday mornings and late afternoons draw the biggest crowds, and after rain the grass can get overgrown, so bring your own water bowl as a backup.
