The Old Milk Bar is a former milk bar turned brunch cafe on quiet Dundas Street, away from the main drag. Dogs are welcome at the undercover footpath seating out front, which makes for easy people-watching while you eat.

The dog setup. Dogs sit with you in the front outdoor area under the canvas awning, on casual undercover pavement seating. There is room for a dog and a pram alongside the tables. Water bowls are often put out, but bring your own to be sure.

Good to know. The fit-out is retro and rustic with exposed brick, and the kitchen runs creative brunch alongside heartier mains. The coffee is well rated. It is a family-run spot that locals rate.

Getting there. The cafe is at 101 Dundas St, tucked off the busier streets. Street parking is available on Dundas Street and the neighbouring residential streets. Tram access on St Georges Road or Nicholson Street is a five to ten minute walk.

Nearby with the dogs. Penders Park is a short walk for a run, and the Merri Creek trail is close for a longer scenic loop along the water.

When to go. Mid-morning on a weekday is calmest. Good for dogs that like to watch the street go by from a covered table.
