T.W. Blake Park Dog Off Leash Area

T.W. Blake Park is a large grassy off-leash area off Blake Street in Preston, behind the Northland precinct. The reason to choose it over Preston's other reserves is the fencing, which makes it one of the safer local options for a dog that likes to run.

The rules. Dogs must be on-leash in the car park and on the paths leading in; only drop the lead inside the designated fenced area. Leash up if formal sport is on the oval, and stay clear of the playground (a 10-metre buffer applies). Carry a leash, keep your dog under voice control, and pick up after them. Dogs that are unvaccinated, aggressive or on heat should stay home.

What's there. Fencing, a water tap with a dog bowl near the outdoor gym, seating, and the gym itself. There are no public toilets on site.

Getting there. Entry is via a gravel road off Blake Street, with on-site parking available. It sits near the Northland precinct, which is served by several bus routes along Murray Road and Cramer Street.

When to go. The oval is a football and cricket hub, so weekends and evenings get crowded. Mid-day on a weekday is the quietest window if you want the fenced area to yourselves.
