Crispe Park Dog Off Leash Area

Crispe Park at 26 Gloucester Street, Reservoir is a Darebin City Council sports oval that doubles as one of the suburb's few fully fenced off-leash areas, open around the clock. The combination of a secure enclosure and 24-hour access is the reason dog owners make a beeline here: a proper off-lead run in floodlight after dark in winter is a genuinely rare thing in Melbourne's north.

The dog setup

The oval is enclosed by perimeter fencing with gated access, effectively a double barrier when the inner football fence is closed, which makes it a sound pick for dogs who like to test boundaries or have unreliable recall. Inside you'll find a water tap with a bowl, benches and seating, free dog waste bags and bins, and lighting for evening visits. Established trees give patchy shade only, so the open grass runs hot on summer afternoons.

Off-leash applies around the clock with one real exception: when the oval is in use for organised sport, training or matches, dogs go back on lead and the ground is out of play. Keep dogs on-lead in the general park areas outside the oval, and note the council's expectation that dogs don't dig up the turf. Clean up after your dog as usual.

Pepsi: fenced and floodlit means a proper off-lead run even after dark in winter. Just bring water in summer, the shade is thin on the open oval.

Expect the park to be busiest early morning and late afternoon on weekdays, and through much of the weekend. Early afternoon midweek is usually the quietest window. The crowd skews towards runners and confident, social dogs, so it suits owners doing fitness work as much as casual play. Public toilets are typically only open when a sports club is using the ground.

Getting there and parking

The park is easy to reach via Plenty Road or Albert Street, with free street parking along Gloucester Street. Regent Station is roughly a 15 to 20 minute walk away, and bus routes along Plenty Road stop close by if you're coming car-free.
