Edwardes Lake Park Dog Off-Lead Area

The Edwardes Lake Park Dog Off-Lead Area sits in the north west corner of Edwardes Lake Park at Leamington Street and Seaver Grove, Reservoir, and it pairs a securely fenced run with the wider draw of the lake: mature shade trees, a 1.5 km paved circuit and plenty of open room to sprint.

The dog setup

The off lead enclosure is fenced, with a large main space for robust exercise plus a separate fenced section for smaller or shy dogs, which makes the gate choice the first decision of the visit. Inside you get shade from big trees, bench seating, a water fountain and bins.

Darebin Council rules apply: off lead only inside this zone, on lead everywhere else in the park, dog under effective voice or hand control and within 25 metres at all times, and at least 20 metres clear of playgrounds and active sports areas. Carry bags and pick up immediately, because fines are real.

Max: it gets busy here, especially weekends and after school. A dog still learning recall does better mid morning midweek, or in the small dog section.

The vibe

This is a social, popular run for a dense suburb, busiest on weekday mornings and afternoons around commute times and on weekends between 10am and 2pm. The lake circuit outside the fence is a bonus: a flat on lead lap for warming up or winding down.

Getting there and parking

The Leamington Street and Seaver Grove car parks drop you closest to the zone. Reservoir Station on the Mernda line is a short walk away and buses run along Broadway, so arriving without a car is genuinely workable.

Make a day of it

Lady Bower Cafe handles the post park coffee in Reservoir, and Crispe Park offers a quieter off lead alternative in the same suburb. The playground off Griffiths Street, with its steam locomotive, keeps kids occupied if the household is mixed.
