Mister Sunshine's

Mister Sunshine's is a retro-styled brunch cafe on George Street in Thebarton, a short hop from the Adelaide CBD, and the outdoor courtyard is where dogs are genuinely welcome.

Dog setup. The courtyard out back is the main dog-friendly area, with a handful of footpath tables out front also suitable for a well-behaved dog on lead. Staff will usually bring a water bowl if you ask. Indoor seating is not the dog spot, so head straight for the courtyard tables.

Known for. Shakshuka, French toast and Turkish eggs come up often, along with good coffee and a lively, slightly quirky fit-out. It is popular, so weekend mornings mean a wait.

Getting there. Free street parking runs along George Street and the side streets, though it fills up fast on weekends. It is an easy five-minute drive from the city.

Nearby with the dogs. Kings Reserve, on the corner of Ashwin Parade and Meyer Street, is close by for a run-around, and the River Torrens Linear Park path is a short walk away for a longer leg-stretch after breakfast.

Go on a weekday if you want to skip the queue, or get there early on weekends before the courtyard fills.
