Fenced Dog Park at 118a Hayward Avenue, Torrensville, is the official name for the two-enclosure off-leash facility on the River Torrens Linear Park, separate small dog and general dog areas, right on the trail corridor near Brickworks Marketplace.

The rules. Off-leash is permitted only inside the fenced enclosures. Once you're back on the Linear Park's shared path, dogs need to be on a short lead, the trail runs right past the park and gets heavy foot and bike traffic. Supervise at all times and clean up waste immediately, bins and bags are provided.

What's there. Fully fenced with double gates, agility equipment for a bit of variety, open running space, and water points. It sits on the 32km Linear Park trail system, so toilets and picnic areas exist nearby but usually need a short walk to reach.

Getting there. There's no dedicated car park right at the gate, park at Brickworks Marketplace and walk the 800 metres north along the trail, or arrive via the Linear Park path from Hardys Road or Jervois Street. The nearest bus stops are on Henley Beach Road, about 500 to 600 metres away.

The riverbank runs alongside the trail here, not the fenced park itself, so it's not a swimming spot, keep dogs leashed on the path if you're walking the river edge.

When to go. Weekday mornings and quiet afternoons beat the weekend rush. After heavy rain the ground softens fast, so a muddy-paw towel in the car is worth it.
