West Torrens Dog Park (Small Dogs)

This is the small-dog side of the West Torrens Dog Park complex on the River Torrens Linear Park near Hayward Avenue, Torrensville: a fully fenced enclosure paired with a separate all-dogs area next door, so smaller or quieter dogs have somewhere to play without being run off their feet.

The dog setup

Off-leash play is only permitted inside the fenced enclosures, and dogs go back on a short lead the moment you step onto the shared Linear Park path. Entry is double-gated so nothing slips out while leads come off, owners keep their dogs in sight under reliable voice control, and waste bags are provided at the entrance. Both zones have basic agility equipment and water points for the dogs.

Worth knowing

Underfoot is a mix of lawn and paved ground, and shade is limited, so hot afternoons are not the best time for a long visit. The small-dog side is the pick if your dog gets overwhelmed by bigger, boisterous types: it is calmer, and there is room to potter without being bowled over.

Pepsi: the small dog side is a good pick for dogs who find the main run too much. Calmer crowd, more space to sniff.

Getting there and parking

The park is built for foot and bike traffic along the River Torrens Linear Park, and there is no dedicated car park at the gates. Most visitors park at Brickworks Marketplace around 800 metres south and walk or ride in along the path between Hardys Road and Jervois Street. Buses through Torrensville put you within a short walk as well.

Close by with the dogs

The Torrensville Dog Park all-dogs enclosure sits alongside, and the River Torrens Linear Park Fenced Dog Park is the other fenced run nearby. For a coffee stop afterwards, The Nest Espresso Bar + Kitchen in Thebarton and Loveon Cafe at Mile End both welcome dogs.
