Charlie's Coffee Bar

Charlie's Coffee Bar is a small local espresso bar on South Street in Hilton, the kind of spot regulars duck into before work with a dog on the lead. It opens from 6am on weekdays, the footpath tables get plenty of use, and the staff are genuinely happy to see four legs turn up.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the footpath and outdoor seating out front, not inside. No dedicated water bowl gets a mention, so bring your own just in case - the footpath is wide enough to settle a dog tucked in close while you order.

What the regulars order

Locals rate the coffee highly, and the gluten-free sausage rolls draw a specific mention alongside a solid cake and vegan selection. The brekky bagels, croque monsieur and banana bread round out an all-day breakfast-and-lunch cabinet that trades until 3:30pm daily. Weekday mornings are the calm window; Saturday mornings get busy with the local crowd, so arrive early for a table.

The bar sits on South Street as part of a small shopping strip, with free street parking nearby. It is an easy in-and-out stop on a dog walk through Hilton.

Hilton Reserve sits about 200 metres south on Ethelwyn Street and Griffiths Park a similar distance southeast, both handy for a post-coffee stretch. For a proper run, Beaconsfield Fenced Dog Park is a couple of minutes away, and the South Beach dog off-leash area covers an ocean fix.
