Bloom is a daytime restaurant in a converted tram barn on Winwood Street in Thebarton, right by the River Torrens, and the leafy outdoor courtyard is where dogs are welcome.

Dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the expansive gravel courtyard, seated among trees with plenty of dappled shade. The indoor dining room is not a dog area, so book or ask for an outdoor table. A water bowl is usually put out, but bring your own bottle for a long sitting, and keep your dog on a lead throughout, as the courtyard is open to passing pedestrians.

Known for. Food cooked over coals, giving dishes a smoky edge, alongside a strong brunch and lunch menu and specialty coffee. The garden setting is the drawcard as much as the food.

the courtyard opens onto a public path along the river, so keep the lead short around the edges where foot and bike traffic passes close to the tables.

Getting there. Bloom is at 38 Winwood Street, Thebarton. Street parking is available on Winwood Street and the surrounding residential streets, but it gets tight on weekends, so a weekday visit or an early start is easier. Open Thursday to Monday, closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

Nearby with the dogs. The River Torrens Linear Park path runs right alongside the cafe, making it easy to walk off breakfast, and the Adelaide CBD is only a few minutes away if you want to continue into town.

Weekday mornings are the easiest time to get a courtyard table with the dog before the weekend crowds arrive.
