Locals Corner

Locals Corner is a neighbourhood cafe at shop 5, 565 Sydney Road, Seaforth, on the edge of Sydney's Northern Beaches. It keeps things simple: solid specialty coffee, a brunch menu that leans on classics done well, and a footpath out front where dogs are welcome while their humans eat. Trading runs 7am to 2:30pm Tuesday to Saturday and 8am to 2:30pm Sunday, with Mondays closed.

The dog setup

Dogs are allowed at the outdoor, street-side seating, which opens directly onto the footpath; indoor dining is for humans and service animals only. Staff have a reputation for being welcoming with dogs and will fill a water bowl on request, though bringing your own is the dependable option. Sydney Road carries real traffic, so settle your dog on the inside of the table with a short lead, away from the kerb.

The coffee program runs single origins and blends, and the milkshakes arrive in stainless steel cups, a detail regulars mention. On the food side, the smashed avocado on charcoal sourdough is the signature, with a pumpkin risotto, roast cauliflower salad and a dedicated kids' menu rounding things out. The entrance and seating are wheelchair accessible, and the cafe is popular enough that late-morning weekends fill the small outdoor section first.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is on Sydney Road, a major arterial through Seaforth, with free parking in the surrounding residential streets and out front on quieter stretches. The A8 bus route runs along Sydney Road if you are arriving without the car. Aim for an early weekday morning for the quietest table and the most room for a dog.

Close by with the dogs

Seaforth Oval on Wakehurst Parkway allows dogs off-leash around the clock on its designated area, though the adjoining Garigal National Park is strictly no dogs. For a fenced run, the LM Graham Reserve Fenced Dog Park in Fairlight and Kroll Gardens Fenced Dog Park are both short drives. Clontarf Dog beach on the Middle Harbour foreshore is the pick for a swim, with timing rules worth checking before you go. If you are making a morning of it, L'Americano Espresso Bar in Balgowlah is another dog-friendly stop nearby.
