Felix Culpa

Felix Culpa is a specialty coffee bar at 210B Broadway, Reservoir, run on a source-local ethos with a minimalist fit-out. It is one of the few cafes in the northern suburbs that takes dogs indoors as well as out, which makes it the wet-weather pick in Reservoir when the park options are off the table.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome inside and in the outdoor seating, and there is a courtyard out the back for a quieter table. This is a cafe set up for dogs rather than one that tolerates them: sparkling water on tap and human-grade dog treats from local suppliers are part of the offer. Keep your dog settled at your side, since the indoor space is compact and the flow between door and counter is narrow.

Worth knowing

The coffee is the headline, with house blends and rotating singles, backed by crumpets, toasties with pastrami and a choc-chip banana bread that regulars order on sight. It trades mornings into the early afternoon, with slightly shorter Sunday hours; hours have varied between listings, so check the venue's site before a long detour. The room fills with laptop-and-coffee traffic on weekday mornings, so a dog that settles under the table is better suited than a restless one.

Getting there and parking

Broadway is Reservoir's main strip, with street parking along the block and Reservoir station a short walk away. Edwardes Lake and the surrounding parklands sit just to the east, so the cafe slots neatly into an existing walk rather than needing a dedicated trip.

Close by with the dogs

The Edwardes Lake Park Dog Off-Lead Area is the natural warm-up, and Crispe Park covers the southern end of the suburb. Clayton & Me and All Heart Cafe are the other local sits if you are working through the suburb list.
