All Heart Cafe

All Heart Cafe is an owner-operated, community-minded spot at 149 Keon Parade in Reservoir with a well-earned reputation for looking after dogs. It pairs a strong vegan and plant-based menu with the usual brunch classics, and the staff go beyond tolerance: water bowls come out, and the occasional dog treat has been known to appear too.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor, undercover and front seating, which is the comfortable choice anyway: the room inside is small and busy, so the outside tables are where you want to be with a dog beside you. Keep your dog on lead and settled at the table, and the welcoming regulars and staff make the rest easy.

Worth knowing

The kitchen's vegan pancakes and Turkish scramble get singled out regularly, alongside gozleme, waffles, eggs benedict and a solid egg and bacon roll, with portion sizes that do not leave anyone short. The coffee holds up its end too. Hours run from 6am on weekdays, 7am Saturdays and 8am Sundays, closing mid afternoon, so breakfast is the long game here.

Max: the dog treats are real but not guaranteed, so go in hoping rather than promising your dog anything. The water bowls, though, are dependable.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is on Keon Parade, with street parking along the strip and the residential streets nearby that gets tight at breakfast. Keon Park Station is within walking distance, which makes a train-plus-cafe loop with the dog straightforward. The surrounding streets are quiet enough for a gentle on-lead wander either side of the table.

Close by with the dogs

For a proper off-lead run before brunch, the Edwardes Lake Park off lead area and Atkinson Reserve are both close. For more coffee, Red Bean Coffee Roaster is just down in Preston and Jerry Joy continues the run north through Thornbury.
