Generation Coffee and Juice Bar sits on Chelsea Lane in Redlynch, a casual neighbourhood stop that roasts its own beans and was the suburb's first dedicated juice bar. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor and footpath seating, which makes it a standard first stop before the dog park run.

The dog setup

Leashed dogs settle with you in the alfresco and footpath areas, and staff usually put a water bowl out, though busy mornings can stretch that, so bring your own bowl to be safe. The footpath tables sit close to passing traffic, so a dog that lies down and stays put suits the room best.

The vibe

The draw is customisable smoothies, protein shakes and juices alongside the house-roasted coffee, with pastries, wraps and toasties covering the food side. It has the feel of a family-run local rather than a chain, and it opens early, from 5:30am on weekdays and 6:30am on weekends until early afternoon.

Pepsi: opens before the sun is properly up, which matters when the tropical heat builds. Smoothie for them, sniff of my bacon roll for me.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits centrally in Redlynch next to KFC, with free street parking and some parking right outside, so a quick stop with the dog in the car is an easy in-and-out.
