Redlynch Connection Pathway

The paved pathway through Redlynch Valley, known as the Redlynch Connection Pathway or the Freshwater Creek Trail, runs beside Freshwater Creek towards Brinsmead. Dogs are welcome on lead, and rainforest shades long stretches by the water.

Lead rules

Cairns Regional Council requires dogs on lead on public pathways. Off-lead time is only allowed in signed areas, such as the parkland off Harvey Road.

The walk

This is a well-kept concrete path shared with bikes, so keep your dog to one side. Patches of tropical rainforest and clear creek water alternate with open space and views over the estates.

Bring water for the dog. There is street parking near the parks at the trailheads.

Make a day of it

Start or finish at Gamburra Drive Park Fenced Dog Park, where a double gate lets your dog run off lead before the creek walk. It has bins, and water from the park bubblers.

On Harvey Road, Redlynch Village Green has a dedicated dog walking zone too.

Walk it early, before the tropical heat builds on the open sections. The smooth, paved surface suits older dogs.
