Good Ways Deli

Good Ways Deli is a casual sandwich and pastry spot in a heritage corner shop on Buckland Street, right on the Redfern-Alexandria border and an easy walk from Redfern Station. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables out front, and locals bring their dogs along for brunch while grabbing a fresh sandwich. The signature draw is the deli sanga with salami cotto, smoked ham and the well-known kangaroo mortadella, backed by daily-baked bread, scrolls, lamingtons and Market Lane coffee.

Dogs sit with you at the outdoor tables on the corner; under NSW food-safety rules they cannot come inside the deli itself, so plan on sitting outside or grabbing takeaway to eat nearby. The setup is casual rather than a dedicated dog area, and there is no confirmed water bowl, so bring your own collapsible one to be safe.

Worth knowing

Hours run 7am to 3pm on weekdays and 8am to 2pm on weekends. The lunch rush from about 11:30am to 1:30pm queues out past the outdoor seats, so an early table is the difference between a relaxed sanga and a wait. Street parking on Buckland Street and nearby blocks gets competitive through the same window.

Close by with the dogs

Alexandria Park is just up Buckland Street with dedicated off-leash areas for a run after your sandwich, and Redfern Park adds open lawns a short walk away.
