HomeGround is the busy local cafe at 8/71 Bathurst Street in Pitt Town, pouring Will & Co coffee and turning out generous brunch plates from 6am on weekdays and 7am on weekends. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor pavement seating, which makes it the easy pre-walk or post-walk stop in the Hawkesbury.

The dog setup

The arrangement is simple: dogs settle in the outdoor seating along the street front, on a leash, and stay outside. The indoor cafe is for humans only. Ask for a water bowl if yours arrives thirsty; staff are accommodating about it. The footpath setup is casual, so a dog that can lie quietly under the table while plates of halloumi burger go past will fit right in.

Max: leash on, spot in the sun, and the scone order arrives. Cafe mornings do not get more predictable than this.

Worth knowing

The kitchen covers breakfast and lunch with vegan options alongside the big brunch staples, and the cabinet of house-made cakes and scones is what the regulars come back for. There is a kids menu and colouring pencils on the tables, so it handles families and dogs in the same sitting. The kitchen closes at 3pm, so late-lunch arrivals are coffee and cake only.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits in a small shopping complex on Bathurst Street, the main road through Pitt Town, about ten minutes from Windsor. Free parking is directly out front with more street parking close by, which makes an in-and-out coffee run with the dog painless.

Close by with the dogs

Pair the coffee with an off-lead run at the Northey Street Park Fenced Dog Park or a riverfront stroll at Alma Park West, both a short drive into Windsor. For another coffee stop in the same orbit, The Second Home Cafe in Windsor also does dog-friendly outdoor seating.
