The Coffee Lady

The Coffee Lady is a retro pink coffee caravan at 111 Snell Grove, Oak Park, directly opposite the train station. It is a grab-and-go stop on a dog walk rather than a sit-down cafe, and it is an easy one with a dog: everything happens outdoors around the van, there is no indoor area to worry about, and water bowls are put out for visiting dogs.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the street-side seating around the caravan. Ask at the window when you order and the caravan has a reputation for obliging with a frothy-milk cup for the dog, though it is not a fixed line on the menu, so treat it as a maybe rather than a promise. This is a quick-stop venue by design: order, settle on the kerbside seats, and be on your way.

What the van serves

Barista coffee is the core, with iced lattes and custom syrups a local favourite, plus a short list of homemade rolls and sweets. The loaded rolls have names worth remembering (The Fancy Lady, the Salami Slammer), and there are breaky brioche rolls, spinach and ricotta rolls, gourmet toasties and a rotating cabinet of homemade cookies and seasonal treats. Hours are 6am to 2pm weekdays and 7:30am to 1pm Saturdays, closed Sundays.

Getting there and parking

Snell Grove runs past Oak Park station, so it is an easy walk from the platform, and street parking nearby gets tight during commuter peaks. Mid-morning on a weekday is the calm window if your dog prefers fewer trains and foot traffic.

Close by with the dogs

The off-lead area at JP Fawkner Reserve is the natural pairing, just down the road around the Moonee Ponds Creek edge. For a fenced session with agility gear, Kingsford Smith Ulm Reserve in Glenroy is a short drive, and Francis Winifred is the suburb's sit-down cafe option when you want a proper table.
