HIGHWAY

HIGHWAY is a rustic, open-air coffee stop on Myocum Road in Myocum, right on the route between Byron Bay, Mullumbimby and the hinterland. It is the pull-over spot for dog owners driving that loop, with a relaxed rural setup where dogs are part of the furniture rather than an afterthought.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor, open-air seating area, which overlooks the paddocks of the Myocum hinterland. It is an informal space, and locals regularly swing by on their morning walks with dogs in tow. Water bowls are often provided. Keep your dog on a leash, as the cafe sits directly alongside a rural road with active country traffic.

Worth knowing

The concise menu leans on specialty coffee from Disciple Roasters, MonksChai and a short list of pastries, with the cheesymite scrolls and focaccia getting the regular nods. There is no long menu, which is exactly the point of the stop: in and out, dog fed on attention, driver fed on caffeine. Hours run 7am to midday, Tuesday to Sunday, and it closes Mondays, so plan the stop for the morning.

Getting there and parking

You will find it on Myocum Road in Myocum, with casual gravel-verge parking directly out the front off the road. There is no formal car park, so pull in the way the locals do, on the shoulder beside the tables.

Close by with the dogs
