Dreamer Cafe

Dreamer Cafe sits on Dava Drive in Mornington, about 200 metres back from the coast at Fossil Beach, and it is one of the few cafes on the Peninsula that welcomes dogs inside as well as out. It runs on Commonfolk-roasted coffee and a walk-in-only policy, and the terracotta-striped awning out front is as good a landmark as any.

The dog setup

Dogs are genuinely welcome here, both in the footpath and courtyard seating outside and inside the cafe itself, which puts it in rare company on a wet Mornington morning. Water bowls are provided. There are no bookings, so arrive early on weekends if you want a settled table with your dog; weekday mornings are the relaxed option.

The coffee and the menu

The coffee is roasted by Commonfolk, whose own cafe is just up the road, and the kitchen is known for loaded toasties, including the Reuben and the Chicken and Avocado, plus brunch classics like Turkish eggs and acai bowls with good vegetarian and vegan choices. A cacao latte or matcha rounds it out if you are not on your second flat white.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at Shop 2, 25 Dava Drive. There is free street parking on Dava Drive and a free car park close by, so parking with a dog in the car is easy, and the walk from the beach end is flat.

While you are out there

Fossil Beach dog off-leash area is 200 metres away for a run before brunch, and the Civic Reserve fenced dog park is a short drive north. Commonfolk Mornington is the obvious second stop for coffee people.
