Commonfolk Mornington

Commonfolk is a warehouse style coffee roastery in Mornington's industrial estate, on Progress Street behind the town centre. The draw for dog owners is the sunny back courtyard, set aside for dogs and reached by its own side entry, so you never have to lead your dog through the cafe.

The dog setup

The back courtyard is the dog zone, with a dedicated side access point that skips the indoor room entirely. Water bowls are usually out, and the staff have a well earned reputation for making a fuss of visiting dogs. Only assistance dogs go inside, and the footpath out front is too tight to be useful, so aim straight for the courtyard. The side entry also means a nervous dog can settle at a table without passing the busy counter.

The vibe

Coffee is roasted on site and it shows in the cup, with the flat white the house benchmark. The kitchen turns out a creative brunch and lunch menu; the pork belly and eggs benedict get regular mentions, and QR code ordering keeps things moving when the yard is busy. Weekdays run from 6:30am to 3:30pm, weekends from 8am to 3pm. The industrial setting is more warehouse than seaside, but the courtyard is warm and sheltered on a clear morning.

Getting there and parking

Free street parking sits out front and along the surrounding industrial streets, which makes this one of the easier Mornington cafes to park near with a dog in the car. It is a short drive or a long walk from the Main Street shopping strip.
