Mustard Moorooduc

Mustard sits in The Coolstores complex on Moorooduc Highway, a small cafe with a quiet, green setting and an outdoor courtyard where dogs are welcome. It is a natural first stop when you are coming down Peninsula Link with the dog in the back: coffee and toasties in, beach or trail after.

The dog setup

Dogs go where the tables go: the open-air courtyard seating around the cafe. Inside is off limits, standard for food premises on the Peninsula, so plan on sitting out. Keep the lead on and pack a collapsible water bowl, since one is not guaranteed at the table. Order at the counter and settle in.

Max: courtyard table, almond croissant for me, sun on the pavers for him. Ten minutes off the highway and nobody rushed us.

The vibe

The menu covers the morning staples well: gourmet toasties, an almond croissant people come back for, banana bread and reliable coffee. Staff are friendly and the space is small enough that a weekday morning feels genuinely calm. Hours run 7am to 2pm on weekdays and 8am to 2pm on weekends, and it opens seven days.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at unit 8, 475 Moorooduc Highway, inside The Coolstores just off the highway. Parking is free and plentiful right in front of the complex, which makes the dog unload easy. A weekday morning is the calmest window: you beat the Peninsula traffic, the courtyard is quiet, and the toasties come out fast. Weekend mornings fill up as beach-bound cars stack down the highway, so arrive before 9am if your dog prefers a bit of space while they settle.
