Clarendon Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Clarendon Reserve is a quiet residential off-leash spot in Somerville, a large open grassy paddock tucked among housing on Clarendon Drive. It is a straightforward local runaround for fetch and frisbee rather than a destination park, and the main thing to know is that it is not fenced.

The rules. Dogs are permitted off-leash only within the designated area and must be under effective voice control at all times. The off-leash space sits close to a playground in the corner of the reserve, and there is no fence between the two, so keep dogs away from the play equipment and clear of the surrounding residential fences. Bins for dog waste are provided near the playground.

What's there. Open grass with limited tree cover and not much shade. There is no dog water fountain, so bring your own water, especially in summer.

Getting there. The reserve is on Clarendon Drive with roadside parking, and it is walkable from the surrounding streets. Somerville Station on the Frankston line is a short ride away.

Weekday mid-mornings and mid-afternoons are quietest. It is a good option for a quick local burn-off, best suited to dogs with solid recall given the open, unfenced layout.
