What visitors mention
The setup. CAVA is a small wine bar and cafe at the base of the Observatory Tower on Kent Street, and dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating out front. It is a good spot for a coffee or a glass of wine between a walk around Barangaroo and a wander up to Observatory Hill.
Dog access. Dogs stick to the outdoor tables, on a lead and under control. There is no dedicated dog area or water bowl guaranteed, so bring your own bowl and check with staff when you arrive, especially if it is busy.
Known for. Bacon and egg rolls, a Basque cheesecake locals rave about, and a solid wine list for an evening drink. It is more of a relaxed neighbourhood spot than a big dog-friendly beer garden, so it suits a quiet coffee stop rather than a long lingering visit with a boisterous dog.
Getting there. Street parking on Kent Street and Argyle Street is limited but workable outside peak times. It is an easy walk from Wynyard Station or the Barangaroo ferry wharf.
When to go. Weekday mornings are quietest for outdoor tables. After your coffee, Barangaroo Reserve and Observatory Hill Park are both a short walk away for the actual walk.
