The setup. Ek'sentrik sits on Anzac Parade at Maroubra Junction, and dogs are welcome at the footpath tables out front. Inside is for humans only, so grab a pavement spot and settle in beside the passing traffic of the retail strip.

Bring your own bowl. Staff are friendly to dogs but water is not a given, so pack a portable bowl, especially on a warm morning. The footpath is busy, so it suits a dog that is relaxed around pedestrians rather than a nervous one.

What it is known for. Big generous breakfasts, well-regarded Campos coffee, bacon and egg rolls, omelettes and sweet treats like the brownie. The kitchen runs daily until around 5pm. It gets busy, so arrive early or off-peak for a calmer table.

Getting there. Street parking runs along Anzac Parade and the residential side streets, but it fills fast around the Junction. Buses run frequently along Anzac Parade if you are coming on foot or by transit.

Make a day of it. Muraborah Reserve off-leash park is a short walk away for a run before or after coffee, and the Maroubra to Malabar coastal walk is an easy drive on for a longer outing.
