Astrolabe Park

Astrolabe Park in Daceyville is a solid, no-fuss off-leash park in Sydney's eastern suburbs, and the standout feature is simple: the entire park is a designated 24/7 off-leash area under Bayside Council. No time windows, no seasonal restrictions, just open green space where the dog can run whenever you get there.

The dog setup

Off-leash applies across the whole park, but dogs must stay under effective voice control at all times, and they go back on lead the moment you step onto the surrounding residential streets. This is an open park rather than a purpose-built fenced run, so reliable recall matters, and it makes the park a poor first stop for a dog still working on their come-when-called.

Facilities are better than the no-frills look suggests: dog water and wash areas, waste bag stations, bins and a public restroom block, ringed by mature shade trees. A paved pathway runs through the park for owners walking alongside their dogs, and the flat open field gives fetch a proper run.

Max: bring a towel anyway. The wetlands edge stays damp after rain, and dogs who find water always find the one muddy patch near it.

The vibe

It is a quiet, green space bordering wetlands and Bonnie Doon Golf Course, so it feels calmer than most suburban parks in the eastern suburbs. There is a basketball ring if you have kids in tow, and the golf course backdrop keeps the horizon open.

Getting there

The park fronts Isaac Smith Street in Daceyville, with street parking in the surrounding blocks, and the dedicated dog park car park on the pagewood side covers anyone arriving off Southern Cross Drive. Bus routes along Anzac Parade put you within walking distance.

While you're out there

If your dog needs a fully fenced session, Sir Joseph Banks Park Fenced Dog Park at Botany is a short drive away, and Firmstone Reserve Fenced Dog Park in Pagewood is closer still. For coffee after the run, Benzie's Cafe in Botany welcomes dogs outside.
