The car park on Isaac Smith Street is the most practical access point for Astrolabe Park, a large, unfenced off-leash reserve on the Daceyville and Pagewood border. It is free, sits directly adjacent to the green space, and saves you hunting for street parking.
The rules. Astrolabe Park is an off-leash area under Bayside Council, but it is not fully fenced. Keep dogs with poor recall leashed near roads and surrounding paths. You must maintain effective control at all times and pick up after your dog.
Getting there. Isaac Smith Street runs off Gardeners Road, with several bus routes on Gardeners Road a short walk away. Residents of Pagewood, Daceyville and Eastlakes can reach the park easily on foot.
When to go. Lighting is limited, so visit in daylight. The entrance near the car park gets busiest during weekday mornings, late afternoons and weekends. Mid-week late morning or early afternoon is the quietest window. Bring your own water and waste bags.
