DPM Cafe

DPM Cafe is a morning-only coffee spot at 4/14-21 Mandurah Terrace, right on the foreshore side of town, and it has built its following on early opens, quality coffee and genuinely friendly service. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath and alfresco tables, which combined with the foreshore steps away makes it a natural first stop on a dawn walk with the dog.

The dog setup

Dogs take the outdoor tables, not the inside room. The setup is casual: tuck a leashed dog under the table away from the main path and the staff, who are a pet-friendly bunch, will usually have a water bowl out front. It is the kind of place where regulars' dogs get recognised, so sociable dogs will fit right in.

The vibe

The kitchen does a small, healthy-leaning brunch menu and the cabinet carries cakes worth stopping for, but the draw is the coffee itself: lattes and mochas get singled out in reviews, and serving sizes do not disappoint. Watch for the rotating Doughnut Friday flavours if you are in town at the end of the week. Hours run 6am to noon on weekdays and 7am to noon on weekends, so this is a breakfast-and-coffee venue with a hard midday close.

Getting there and parking

Public parking bays line Mandurah Terrace and the foreshore, and the precinct fills fast on weekend mornings, so come early. Weekday mornings are the calmest window for a table with a dog, and the foreshore grass is close enough that a pre-coffee runaround is easy.

Close by with the dogs
