Kirrawee's Quick Shot Cafe

Kirrawee's Quick Shot Cafe is a family-run local at 141 Oak Road in Kirrawee, pouring Campos coffee from 5am on weekdays for the Sutherland Shire's early risers. The name is honest: it is geared to a fast, friendly coffee-and-breakfast stop, and the outdoor seating along Oak Road takes dogs.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables out front, on lead beside your chair. Staff routinely supply water and bowls for visiting dogs, which is more than most quick-stop cafes manage, though it is worth confirming on a hectic Saturday when the footpath is full. Weekend mornings get busy with the local crowd, so if your dog prefers calm, aim for a weekday before the commute or an early weekend start.

The menu and the coffee

The house pour is Campos, and the kitchen runs well beyond the standard bacon-and-egg roll, even though that roll and the smashed avo do steady trade. The menu lists a Short Ribs Benedict, a Purple Love Breakfast, chilli scrambled eggs and a Pumpkin Manchego Rosti, with poke bowls, wraps and a kids' section covering the rest of the table. Matcha sits alongside the coffee list. It is proper sit-down food served at quick-stop speed, and the all-day breakfast runs to about 2:30pm before the kitchen winds down.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits on Oak Road in the middle of Kirrawee's commercial stretch, a short drive from Sutherland and Gymea, with street parking along Oak Road and the surrounding side streets. Hours are 5am to 3:30pm weekdays and 5:30am to 3pm weekends, and the 5am weekday open is the whole point: it is one of the few places in the Shire where a pre-dawn dog walk can end with a real coffee.

Close by with the dogs

For off-lead time, the fenced run at Helena Street Park is in the same suburb, and the Woronora River Bridge Loop is a short drive south for a proper riverside walk with the dog on lead, with the Prince Edward Park Bushwalk on the same water.
